Foundation Cafe is a family-owned coffee shop and restaurant in SF's Financial District. We offer gourmet California dining with Filipino Influences in a quick service environment, ethically focused on seasonality, sustainability, nutrition and value to our patrons.

Foundation Cafe derives its name from the very location it sits on. In the early 19th century, this section of the Financial District was a Mexican Pueblo called Yerba Buena (meaning "good herb"). The first constructed street of the city ran through the town and started on a point on what is now Kearny & Pine Streets heading northward. The street, built in 1835, was called "La Calle de la Fundacion," or "Foundation Street."
